Behaviour and Expectations

The Kenley Way

Be ready, be respectful, be safe are the expectations we have for ourselves and others.  They encourage us to do the right thing and be the very best that we can be in all that we do.  They are the everyday behaviours that communicate our values and our guiding principles of:

AMBITION | RESPONSIBILITY | COMMUNITY

At Kenley Primary School we believe treating others and the environment with respect, always being ready to learn and ensuring that everyone is kept safe is a responsibility.  We consider that our children’s chances at success and happiness in life, now and in the future, depend considerably on their ability to make responsible choices.

Behaviour Curriculum

At Kenley Primary we develop children’s character through our behaviour curriculum. In order to build character, we define the behaviours and habits that we expect students to demonstrate. We want to support our pupils to grow into adults who are polite, respectful, grateful and who always consider others. We believe that as pupils practise these behaviours, over time they become automatic routines that positively shape how they feel about themselves and how other people perceive them.

Behaviour Charters

Every class has co-constructed a Class Charter:  a set of agreed principles for behaviour, decided by the children.

Below is our Dinner Hall Charter, which helps to make eating at lunchtimes a calm, positive and orderly environment for everyone.
